Sometimes, parents talk to their kids about sharks and how scary they are and then when the child gets scared, they tell them how sharks aren’t dangerous and how they are friendly. They do that so their child goes to sleep. But it is actually true. Sharks aren’t scary. They don’t attack humans unless they attacked first. And every day, these same sharks are getting attacked by many people who kill them just for their fins. There are some solutions like contacting agencies. Read on to see what shark are, what the problem is, and what the solutions are to solving it. First of all, sharks are fantastical creatures who roam the seas freely and have many features to help them. Sharks are very agile and fast when they sim, particularly because they have cartilage instead of bone in their body. Cartilage is what our nose ears are made from and it helps the sharks swim fast and turn quickly. To breathe they have five to seven gills in their body so they don’t have to come to the surface to take a breath every time. People want their fins for soup. According to Shark Angels, “Over the last 30 years, the number of people eating shark’s fin has risen form a few million in the 1980’s to more than 300 million today.” These people are killing sharks for their fins which is leading to extinction. In fact, scientists say that there are about 20 species of sharks that are just on the verge of extinction. This problem affects the whole ecosystem because if the top of the food chain is gone, then the animals that the sharks eat will grow and will eat everything else.
