Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter and the mysterious woman in She Walks in Beauty share numerous similarities in confidence, appearance, the way they present themselves, and resplendency. They have a few differences but overall present the genuine definition of beauty. Hester Prynne, has hair darker than the night so glossy it shines too bright for others awaiting eyes to set gaze upon her beautiful face. The elegant woman you watch walk in beauty, is as breathtaking as the starry night and entrances those who set foot in her sight. Where her love is innocent for her true soul mate. Where her mysterious eyes can portray the best and the worst of her and in the light, set upon people, her true self is shown. She Walks in Beauty also states, “The smiles that win, the tints that glow/ But tell of days in goodness spent.” her smile when shown to a crowd is blinding for she depicts her confidence and memory of the days she enjoys most. Where she is castigated, censured, denounced, because she won't give up the name of her lover who is arcane to the rest of the world but will still flash a smile to the crowd standing before her trying to bring her down, to make her fall, to destroy any bit of confidence, strength, and self worth she still has, all to show she is still strong and she is still holding on to the times she treasures most.
