This book takes place in the spring of 1975, and in the state of New Hampshire. The town is quite, and everyone knew one another since they were little children. The characters were mostly seniors in high school, so they had those old cell phones. Most teenagers thought it was cool to drink and smoke, and to party all night. Jocelyn and Gabe had jobs at a breakfast diner where everyone hung out and met up with friends. Most of the characters drove cars, and that meant hanging out with friends all night and going home late. Jocelyn, in every other chapter, goes back to when her and Gabe we children and remember memories about because he was missing and she missed him.
The main character is Jocelyn, she is 17 year old, and her nick name is “Joss”. Jocelyn is very honest and free spirited. If she has a question and wants to know she will do what she can to get the right answer. The whole town has helped Gabe’s family looking for him. They looked through the forest, where he worked, and the local market and grocery store. The struggle of this conflict it’s that no one knows where Gabe is, no one some him where he was last sawn, and he never spoke with anyone that day. He just disappeared! This conflict is both external and internal because everyone is heartbroken and astonished that Gabe is missing, and internally Jocelyn remembers memories with Gabe and that has a conflict with her and with her on again – off again boyfriend.
