Shirley Andrews’ Lemuria and Atlantis is a book in which the evidence presented are used to support the idea that indeed Lemuria and Atlantis once existed. According to Shirley, the “supporting” documents she presents are of primary documentation and for so reason they are reliable and real. Shirley Andrews’ work is consisted of the “memories” from people who claim they have lived past experiences in Atlantis and Lemuria, but there is not much specification to clarify but explanation of stories already known. To start us off, Shirley Andrews claims that there is reason to believe that hundreds of years ago the same themes that existed in Lemuria or Mu and Atlantis that influence our lives. According to Edgar Cayce “In the mid-twentieth century, …show more content…
Not much of recorder information on prehistory exists and what does exist it cannot be deciphered. Artifacts with strange writing on tablets that were found from Easter Island. There is believed that Easter Island which was “formed from three extinct volcanoes, is the only portion of the Mother Land (Mu/Lemuria) that the sea has not covered.”(Andrews) The tablet found had Rongorongo writing. According to Shirley Andrews a bishop receive one of these tablets which was wrapped in hair strands and it was investigated that there were over 500 of these tablets but only 21 have survived. These tablets although and h eye captivating and were interesting, what was found 3,400 miles from Easter Island. Remnants of a sunken city of Nan Madol. Plato’s description of the capital city of Atlantis resembled what was found in the city of Nan Madol. Similar to the findings of the sunken city, in the year of “1836 the island of Tuanaki, south of the cook Islands suddenly disappeared with all but one of its inhabitants” (pg4, Andrews).According to Andrew’s after the breaking of Lemuria and Atlantis people fled to Central America, South America, and the United States, and all was before the Mayans and the …show more content…
In the book Frauds, Myths, and mysteries: Science and pseudoscience in Archaeology by Professor Kenneth L. Feder, Feder claims that “the study of the human past is a science and relies on the same general logical processes that all sciences do” and “Archaeology has attracted frauds and fakes. Myths about the humans past have been created and popularized” (pg.39, Feder) Myths like that on the long lost city of Atlantis. There are reasons that prove that most if not all of Shirley Andrews’ writing can be classified as a science fiction genre. The “facts” that are stated in her book have not much validity. I say so because her “supporting” documents are not at all reliable. This Edgar Cayce was a famous psychic in the 1920s and 1930s. What one believe would happen in the findings of Atlantis did not happen at all. Having psychic as a reliable source is not much safe for sakes. As Feder stated “In exploring the problems of secondhand information, we run into even more complications. When we are not in the place to observe something firsthand, we are forced to rely on the quality of someone else’s observations” (pg. 19, Feder) Some of Andrews’ evidence comes from other people’s dreams and this is just unacceptable
