Rocky Jennings Mrs.Dwiggins Computers 1 September 17, 2014 The Civil War On April 12, 1861 through May 9, 1865 the civil War took place. the civil war started under the influence of seven southern slave states that sought out their secession from the United States and formed the confederate state of America, which was called the confederacy or some like to call it the south. Eleven states grew into the south. The other states that were not involved with declaring secession were known as the union or north. when it really came down to it the civil wars greatest influence was due to slavery and economic situations. In 1861 confederate warships surrounded Fort Sumter and bombarded the union soldiers. That’s the day the civil war broke out and federal troops surrendered. Majority of the civil war took place in Virginia and Tennessee. About 620,000 soldiers lost their lives in line of duty. In most cases soldiers were buried where they were killed. In a percentage of today's population thats about 6 million lives.The civil war took up about 4 ½ years. During those years many unwanted things happened, such as Americans fighting Americans that caused great trouble throughout the country. …show more content…
Some illnesses that took some soldiers lives were things like yellow fever, pneumonia, and typhoid fever. Yellow fever is caused by mosquitoes and can be very fatal. Pneumonia is inflammation in the lungs and the disease took over. Typhoid fever was from severe bacteria that caused high fever, really bad headaches and intense rash. Typhoid fever was carried by body
