Children are heavily influenced and shaped by the environment in which they are raised. Children of war torn countries grow up to be adults that end up running those same countries. With the high prevalence of war and violence in today’s world, it is crucial to have a complete grasp on the repercussions on the youth, because they will be shape tomorrow’s world.
I am passionate about children and their well-being. I plan to spend my life working internationally with children who are orphans, in poverty, malnourished and in other extreme conditions. Considering that these children are products of their environment, I believe it is vital to research exactly what effect that environment has. My research question is, “What are the short and long term effects of war on the children of Iraq?”
