Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens.
These words epitomize an excellent wife, a precious mother, a God fearing woman and a friend to all- Lettice Codner (nee Jarrett) , Evelyn, Mommy Evelyn, Eve; who came into this world on the 4th November,1945 through the union of Eunice Simms and Reginald Jarrett.
On the 3rd June, 1966, at age 21`, she moved out of her parents’ home to explore the world and create her own stamp of life. At this juncture she joined the love of her life, Luther Codner. They were joined in holy matrimony

She was a selfless human being who sacrificed her life for all her children. She had a fighting spirit that is unmatched. As a wife, she was very submissive to her husband as Christ requires it, no matter the consequences. Mom was the epitome of humility, kindness, love, compassion, gentleness and had a great sense of humour and an infectious smile. She was very jovial and extremely multi talented. She was a warrior for Christ; having fought many battles both in and out of church. She was resilient and stood out for righteousness; holiness was her watchword and song. She had a discerning spirit and could not be fooled easily.
Mommy believed in prayer; she covered her children before they leave for school and was very supportive and dedicated to the noon prayer that was started by Daddy at the Post Office. This she continued at home which extended to Saturday evenings with her family

Not wanting her children to be in a similar situation, she emphasized the importance of a good education to us all and ensured that this was achieved; as all of her children became professionals in various fields to include nursing, which she loved dearly.
Our lasting memories of mommy are simple: she was phenomenal, a hardworking, passionate figure of strength who never waned in her support or love for God and her family, and who soldiered on, even when times were tough. She remained faithful even unto death and has left an indelible mark on our lives which will remain permanently etched. We will always remember these encouraging words that would be repeatedly echoed by mom:
• Put God first in everything we do.
• No matter how hard life is, there is always a better day coming.
• Always evaluate the possible consequences of your decisions.
• Never allow people or your circumstances to define who you are.
