Henry Hudson was born in England in 1565, and died on June 22, 1611. His spouse was Katherine Hudson. Henry’s siblings are Thomas, Christopher, and John Hudson. His children are Oliver, John, and Richard Hudson. In 1607, explorer Henry Hudson was hired to find a short route from Europe to Asia through the Arctic Ocean, and he made his first voyage west of England. His first two voyages filed due to ice, so Henry Hudson set out on another voyage in 1609, which was sponsored by the Dutch East India Company. On this voyage, Hudson’s ships would go across what is now known as the Hudson River, but they were turned around after realizing that the path they were going wasn’t the right path. Between 1610 and 1611, Henry Hudson went on one final voyage. He spent many months flowing through the bay that is now named after him, and was eventually fell victim of mutiny because of his crew. In 1607, Hudson was told that he could find an ice-free way to Asia where he could find rich resources and markets. He set sail along with his son and many others. Henry Hudson left Holland on the ship Half Moon in April 1609. Bad conditions blocked his route, but instead of turning back around, Henry Hudson decided to go ahead to the New World and explore. They landed in Canada, then traveled south and stopped in a river, which would end up being called the Hudson River. The Muscovy Company and the British East India Company funded his fourth voyage. Hudson started in London, stopped in Iceland, then continued west. He ran through what is now the Hudson strait.
