Luis J. Rodriguez begins his memoir by remembering a day when he is nine years old and his family is on a “bondo-spackled Dodge” and on there way to the Union Station. He begins talking about his mother on how she has purchased him a new comic book. He also begins talking about how his father is refusing to return to Mexico and his mother is angry.
