Invisible Children The story of Ocaya Jimmy. Ocaya was abducted by the LRA when he was just 9 years old. Jimmy was in his house with his family when some LRA members broke in and even tortured them. Right after that him and four of his cousins were abducted in 1997. His uncle was a leader in the LRA and decided to send him back home instead of send him to a rehabilitation center over a week after he was abducted. Ocaya says that “education is not just the preparation of life, but education is life itself”. Ocaya studied agriculture because he wanted to farm in his village and because he wants to be successful. Ocaya believes that if you have an education you can't be robbed of it. Ocaya worked very hard to be successful and he graduated in 2015 and to move on from his traumatic experiences involving the LRA and be happy and achieve his dreams. The LRA (Lord's residents army) is a group that kidnaps innocents children and forces them to become a part of their group/ army that terrorizes and kills many people. This groups leader is Joseph Kony, he says that he does what he does for religious purposes but any sane person no matter how religious they are would never kidnap, torture and force innocent children to be apart of this group. Invisible Children wants to end this that is their mission, to end the trauma and fear that so many people face on a daily basis in extremely isolated areas in Central Africa.
