Imagine you out there in a field full of mines and traps being forced to kill men twice or perhaps three times your age. If you dare to not listen to the commander's orders your family will be killed right in front of you or maybe even more severe punishments. Wouldn’t that be scary? Do you think you could handle that? To top this all of that's actually going on in the world as you read and some people want to punish the children for the crimes they were forced to do. Child soldiers should be granted amnesty because they have no choice but to depend on the commander for food, water, shelter, and drugs, they are also forcibly recruited, and they already suffer from psychological and mental issues.
Firstly, In the interview with Ishmael Beah on CBS News he says that the commander becomes a father figure and they depend on him for food,money, shelter, and drugs. I'm not saying they need the drugs it's certainly their choice. They depend on him for these things because that's all they know without the commander they have nobody else and are forced to be lonely that's why they act to all his commands. “Child Soldiers Should Be Prosecuted” published by DebateWise says that “Children are often forced into fighting and have little choice over whether or not they enlist.” This quote shows that the children are being forced to do this and the people who are urging them should get in trouble . Some children do join on their own free will but do not have any idea what their getting themselves into and later regret it when they can't leave. By not knowing what their getting themselves into I mean that they find out crucial information after they join in that they should have known in the first place. This connects to the theme because it shows that they are being forced to do the horrible crimes they may commit that is why we should grant them
