What people choose to read is their right. The first amendment does state of public schools congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and the petition of the government for a redress of grievances. Unfortunately, some novels are being banned for certain reasons like racial issues, sexual situations, encouragement of “damaging” lifestyles, or violence/negativity. Nowadays some people's view on “appropriate” could be different than someone else's. In certain situations children need to be aware of their surroundings. In addition children do have the right to read whatever they desire. The definition of what is“appropriate” to read needs to be set into place. The government could be banning a book that applies to a student's lifestyle. This also means, that what you read doesn't mean that everyone has to agree with what we read. But learning from what we read, could end up being beneficial. Generally speaking kids will learn how to live in a world of differences. A perfect example of this is “ Jay Asher, who wrote the best selling book after a close relative attempted suicide as a teenager, said he has spoken at schools in all 50 states and tells students he would not be there if it weren't for teachers who were not afraid to talk about the uncomfortable topics.” By reading these books it can enlightens the child that they are not alone and others are going through similar hardships. It might also help them to talk about what is going on in their life and end up resolving the situation. End your paragraph with a concluding sentence or sentences that reasserts how your paragraph contributes to the development of your argument as a whole. Hopefully by recognizing that talking and opening up about these subjects can overall help the children even asking for help is much better, than not addressing the situation at
