Crime across the United States is never going to go away and criminals hurt innocent bystanders all of the time. It is necessary for citizens to be able to carry a firearm in case they are to encounter a threat to their own life or the lives of others. In 2010, approximately 60% of robberies in the United States were carried out with dangerous weapons, (FBI.gov) and 41.4 percent of those robberies were with firearms. Criminals are most of the time not willing to commit murder and firearms are a huge deterrent for all crimes. Criminals are less likely to commit a crime when they are aware that citizens and business owners are carrying a gun themselves. Encouraging every citizen to own a gun can deter crimes to extremely low levels. An example of this Kennesaw, GA. Every head of the household in Kennesaw is required to own a gun by a law passed in 1982 (Code of Ordinances, Kennesaw, Georgia). There had only been one murder from the years of 2011-2015.
