Should College Athletes Get Paid? “It seems the conversation is here to stay. The question, “Should college athletes be paid?” (Patterson). This subject influence society on should college athletes get paid so they can take of themselves. Some college athletes families do not have the money to take care of their child that is attending college. The students that wasn't blessed with a scholarship are stuck without a job, and is trying to pay for college. The school and the securities and exchange commission do not want to pay the athletes. If the student athletes are bringing in money for the school, why not pay them for what they do for the school. Schools that make it to football bowl games get anywhere between 2 million - 6 million dollars. They should pay the athletes if they get a lot of money for what the student athletes made happened for the school. These student athletes that do not get paid do alot for the school, they even put their body in jeopardy to play and represent the school they are attending. “A majority ― 52% ― of black respondents are strongly or somewhat in favor of paying college athletes, while only 15% strongly or somewhat oppose the idea.
