Do you agree that patients who are terminally ill, who know they are going to die should have the say how to end their life voluntarily? Should euthanasia be legalized in America? Should a patient be given the right to their pathway out of irreversible agony? Since the seventeenth century there have been numerous disputes whether the option should be an alternative way to end a patient's life. Euthanasia is the merciful process of killing a patient suffering from a painful and inevitable disease, by an authorized doctor. I believe that this practice of ending a suffering patient's life with their consent should be legalized everywhere. I agree that euthanasia should be legalized nationwide. At the end of the day, the decision comes down to whether and how the patient wants to end their life. I mean, what's the point forcing someone to live while suffering, if their death is imminent? We are all going to die one day anyways. So why deny the patient the natural born right to choose their way out? Who is anybody to allow suffrage on another person? …show more content…
The billions of dollars spent on equipment every year for ill patients will be crossed out as an effect of allowing assisted suicide as an alternative to patients whose death has a due date. According to CBS in an article, “The Cost of Dying” on November 19 of 2009, “last year, Medicare paid $50 billion dollars just for doctor and hospital bills during the last two months of patients’ lives- that's more than the budget of the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Education.” Just those two months of money spent creates the question of whether the cost of dying can lead to legalizing euthanasia as an alternative way of a cheap and painless death.
