The discussion on what should be taught: Evolutionism or Creationism, has been a hot topic in schools since 1925 when John Thomas Scopes taught evolutionism in a Tennessee High School. Since then, numerous debates and discussions have been held to attempt to find which model of creation is viable. Evolutionism should be taught in public schools as opposed to creationism because it is currently the most scientifically accurate ideas. This can be seen through the fossilization of creatures into oil, the flaws in creationism, and the use of natural law. This is the single strongest point any and every creationist has, is that unlike evolutionism, they have an explanation as to how and why we are here. Though with this advantage, it would seem as if creationism is the obvious choice, however because they take the original line as true fact, that would only result in the entire book of genesis, and the collection of scriptures in the old testament needing to be taken as literal fact. The first of two statements that come from the old testament from Matthew 24:29 that states “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky”. (4) Stars are unable to “fall from the sky” let alone fall at all. These books were written as a form of art, to take document on the life of the child of god, not in order to stand as a viable theory as to how the earth was created.
