In the year of November 6, 1869, the first ever American college football game was played by the Rutgers and Princeton. It wasn't until August 20, 1920, when the National Football League was founded and became a national sport. Football has become a big part of American culture and has evolved dramatically in the way it is played. Not only has the sport itself changed with its rules, equipment, and playing fields, but also with the bodily injuries that come with it. Due to significant injuries like concussions, broken necks, hyperextending parts of the body, questions are made if football should still be allowed in high school sports. Unfortunately, significant bodily injuries associated with football are also common in other sports like baseball and basketball. The option of removing what is known as America's Sport would not prevent these injuries; providing proper lessons and teaching young athletes the seriousness of these injuries would bring more results in the decrease of the injuries. …show more content…
The amount of opportunities and lessons that come from the sport helps our youth in life. For most students playing high school football is their dream. Not only for the Friday night lights but playing in high school football is the key to getting into college and from college moving onto the NFL.
In the most recent years, more and more significant injuries have been reported not only in the NFL or NCAA but high schools as well.
