Should proficient girls be allowed to play on a boy’s team? The nineteenth amendment to the U.S constitution gave women the right to vote just like men, but is it fair to deny the right for girls to play on the same sports team as boys after the women’s rights movement? I truly believe that skilled girls should be allowed to play on the same sports teams as boys. Boys and girls are both human. So what makes them so different that they cannot play together? While it is true that boys overall have more upper body strength than girls, but they can go so far with just enough spirit and determination to play and compete with boys in sports teams. According to Time Magazine, about 90% of all girls who are beginning to play on boys’ team have high confidence in themselves and are eager to learn new skills not taught in a girls’ team. Marge Piercy once said, “A strong woman is a woman determined to do something others are determined not be done.” Girls can accomplish many achievements and go so far without stereotypical restrictions and put mistaken stereotypes in their place. People may believe that mixed teams would spark tensions between boys and girls and negatively influence the team's effort, but it could equally restore and create new friendships and let each other share their skills and boost teams to success. Girls’ teams may be too easy in some leagues and if anything will harm these teams.
