Girls should have the freedom to wear what they want to school without being told to change or go home. How many of you have seen, heard, or have been told to change your clothes because they don't follow school dress code? Were most of those people girls? Girls are mostly targeted for their clothes because the school thinks they are distracting or inappropriate. We need to stop teaching girls to cover up because society can see their thighs or shoulders, and give them the freedom to go to school without being dresscoded or discriminated against. Most boys that I see will wear shorts all year and a teacher never dress codes them for not wearing appropriate clothes for the season. However, when a girl wears shorts for the appropriate season she gets dresscoded. Holding females to a higher standard than males is like holding female politicians to a higher standard than male politicians. If a girl wants to wear shorts on a hot day, let her. If a girl wants to wear a tank top because it is going to be 90 degrees on Tuesday, let her. If a girl wants to go to school to get an education without being told to change or go home, let her. It seems like when spring and summer come around that is all they care about. The school doesn't care that even though only a small portion of girls wear shorts to school, there is a large portion of boys who wear shorts all year round.
