Why Golfers should not use PEDS
Golf is naturally a game of concentration and skill, however some people want to get an advantage in sports like these, so they resort to performance enhancing drugs, (PEDS) which are supposed to increase your athletic ability, speed, strength, and overall skill in the sport you play. However, this begs the question, should golfers be able to use PEDS? I believe that they should not because the health risks could be unbeneficial, players could face serious consequences, and people are finding more efficient ways to detect PEDS. For these reasons, I think without PEDS, golf would be a much more fun, safe, and fair environment for everyone.
As stated above, my first reason that PEDS have no place in golf is the health risks. Evidence to support this claim is, “There are also far worse consequences of PED use - including heart damage, liver damage, and an increased risk of blood clots.” (Woerner, MLB Player’s Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs comes with serious Health Risks) This evidence supports my claim because it shows the dangers of abusing PEDS in any sport, not just golf. Evidence to support this claim is,”PGA tours will start using blood testing, a test that will allow the tour to detect Human Growth Hormone.” (AP News, PGA Tour will start using Blood Testing for PEDS and report all Drug Suspensions next season.) This evidence supports my claim because it shows that cheating in sports is gonna become more difficult as PGA finds more efficient ways to expose cheaters. This unbenefits PED users especially if you take what I said in my second reason, it's almost guaranteed that you’ll get caught and get harsh punishments all just because you took some drugs that actually have serious health
