High Schools should include video games in their course curricula. Using video games in education is proven to improve productivity and effectiveness. While the learning is important, I believe that the most significant effect of this learning process is the possible narrowing of the gender gap in video gaming. This exposure to video games can enforce the acceptance of gender-diversity in the online world. Hiding behind gaming culture is a delegation of anonymous sexist players, eagerly waiting to harass women in the gaming industry. Along with that, learning about video games from a younger age can teach students how to properly act online, because being hidden by an anonymous facade makes people forget about consequences of their actions, which contributes to the danger of the internet society. This proves that teaching games as texts can fit into the same categories as any other medium of work, therefore making this type of learning evaluate through the same or similar criteria as traditional lessons.
