“You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again you did not know”. William Wilberforce made that statement when he spoke about society’s knowledge that human trafficking exists. Many people forced into human trafficking are kidnap victims or runaway children. The average age of girls involved in human trafficking is between the ages of 11 and 14. In Minnesota alone, there is estimated to be 8,000-10,000 victims of human trafficking. The first reason that John Kline should make more laws about human trafficking is that when they get the kids for human trafficking they are usually run away or they are kidnapped off the streets or even from their yards. Women's foundation of Minnesota Claims that “Child trafficking can occur when children are abducted from the streets sold into slavery. The average age for entry into prostitution in the U.S. is 12 years old. Approximately half of all human trafficking victims are children,” (women’s foundation of Minnesota page 1 ). In other words, most kids that are taken into human trafficking are either stolen or they are runaways trying to hide from their parents.
