Rap music has always been a way to make a statement about the world . It has been used for everything from dissing other people to talking about how they had to fight their way to the big time. Throughout its long history, people have seriously considered censoring or even banning Rap music because of its hardcore language. Although Music can be used to send negative messages, rap music needs to be unrestricted and that's why music should be uncensored
Throughout history, there's been songs that have suffered being censored because it went against everything the US Government stood for or because it glorified violence, sexual references, controversial topics and usually hardcore language. Songs such as NWA’s “F*** tha Police”, Notorious BIG’s “Juicy”, Cee Lo Green’s “F’ you” and many other songs (Morrison). But as you can tell, Many of today's rappers do the same, they speak their mind, and perform the art that they love. (“Pate”)

Rap has a long and interesting history and interesting backstory. “Rap & Poetry articulates the world that stares back at the artist”. (“Pate”) Rap is more than just curse words, gang-references and singing fast. It's about the hardships that the artist had to overcome in their life, as well as addressing some of today's issues. “Rap & poetry is and, from all appearances, will continue to be a significant contribution to African American literature”. (“Pate”) Rap has been apart of African American history, but it played a bigger role once the Civil Rights movement began. Many people such as NWA, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious BIG and many other rappers were apart of this movement to address topics like what it was like in the life as a colored man in that time period. This just shows the true culture and incredible history of rap and why it shouldn't be
