Many young student-athletes in college cannot afford basic necessities even while they are on a “full ride” scholarship. These college athletes should be paid because between being a full time athlete and a full time student they do not have enough time to get a job and make their own money, most of these student-athletes are almost identical to an employee, most of these players also come from underprivileged families and this money can help them out with the little things that they might need. Making money is nearly impossible for these athletes to do their schoolwork along with all the practices, traveling, and schoolwork that goes on with the sport that they play. Their schoolwork has just as big of an impact on their live as sports does, because if the players do not keep up their grades they may not be able to practice, play, or they could get there scholarship taken away. The coaches of the sports that these athletes play can nearly control what these players do just like an employer has on an employee, the punishment for not listening to your employer or coach is just like getting fires you can have your scholarship removed then you would have to leave the school. These athletes have their name all over the radio and television depending on where they are and how well they are doing. The television or radio station is a form of commercial entertainment that can be watched or heard by tons of people and since it is commercial entertainment it make the radio station or television station lots of money which is really made by the players on the field or court.
