Did know 16 year old drivers get into my accidents than adults? I believe the age you get your driver’s license should be increased to 18. The three reasons I think this is because most accidents are caused by teenagers, the 16-year-old mind isn’t fully developed, and that they are inexperienced at the time.

My first reason that the age you get your driver’s license should increase to 18 is because most accidents are caused by teenagers. Sure 18 year olds are still teenagers but they are also almost an adult. According to the article Is 16 Too Young to Drive a Car? The author states “In 2003, there were 937 drivers age 16 who were involved in fatal car crashes at a rate nearly five times the rate of drivers 20 or older.” There is a problem if the rate of fatal car crashes for teenagers is …show more content…

My point is that we raise your age to get your driver’s license to the age of 18 BUT you learn how to drive a car at the age of 16; then at the age of 18 you finally get your driver's license. Some states have already increased the driving age to 18 while some others are doing something very similar to what I just said. Sure article two states "But during the same period, [of tougher licensing laws] fatal crashes involving 18-year-old drivers increased" First off the article lists reasons as they can’t get a car because they can’t afford it and for that I would have to say that all parents should save up a certain amount of cash to help their children buy a car as well as their children saving up (I mean summer jobs exist right?). Even if you buy a car at the age of 17 and not 16 you still have awhile to practice.
