Although not in North America the Venezuelan economic crisis affects the United States.The social injustice the Venezuelan economic crisis is affecting many people in Latin America and if not fixed could significantly damage Venezuela’s economy. The United States should help Venezuela because the crisis if continued will affect the citizens of United States. Before talking about how the United States should help Venezuela, the background on how Venezuela got to this point is needed. Venezuelan politics were the first cause of the economic crisis. The politics were extremely unstable causing the lives of the Venezuelans to go awry. Polices are trying to keep the price low because the price of food is going up faster than the price of wages. Unless the Venezuelan government takes action soon Venezuela might not be able to dig itself out of the hole. Since Hugo Chavez died in 2013 Venezuela has gone downhill. The tension between Latin America and the U.S. can need some calming as it has gotten even more intense. All commercial ties have been cut between the United States and Venezuela. Venezuela is the United States’s adversary in all of Latin America. Venezuela has already blamed the United States time and time again. It would be useful for the United States to be able to trade with Venezuela and if Venezuela can not trade then the United States lose a trading partner. Venezuela is the closest country with large amounts of oil supply which could significantly help trade routes for the United States,”...It’s time to turn crisis into opportunity, to fulfill the unfinished business of realizing to the fullest potential the relationship between the U.S. and Venezuela”(Reverend Jesse Jackson). There is barely enough food and medical supplies for all Venezuelan citizens. The Venezuelans are suffering while the government does not know how to fix this crisis, “Everyone here is hungry. We are down to one meal a day, and we are college educated with full time job. No matter how much money you have, you can’t buy food. It simply isn’t here” (ciation here) Teenagers have to wake up early not for school,but to wait in grocery lines for their families. Parents can not afford to miss a day of work as they may lose their job and could not provide for the family. The grocery lines are getting extremely intense as some Venezuelans are fighting over food or waiting for food to fall from trees for a little bit of food. Venezuelan citizens have become desperate and are crossing borders to buy supplies not available in Venezuela. The U.S namely Miami have been shipping medical supplies to Venezuela seeing as Venezuela does not have the amount the citizens need to live. Venezuelans even try and are successful crossing the border to Colombia in order to get necessary supplies, “According to the Colombian authorities, up to 90,000 people crossed the boundary to purchase food and medicine”(citation here). Maduro did manage to increase minimum wage for all the citizens,but this will not help Venezuela bring in more food or supplies.
