Theodore Dreiser, author of Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy, is an American author that I believe has gone underrated. I believe that Theodore Dreiser should be a well known author because he’s writing is brilliant and the messages throughout his works should be taught to students because all people should be exposed to views that can impact their lives and their life’s decisions. The works Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy are certainly enduring works of literature that display a deep understanding of the American experience around the turn of the century, with its liberal desires and persistent disillusionments.
