Theodore Dreiser Should be a Well Known Author
Theodore Dreiser, author of Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy, is an American author that I believe has gone underrated. I believe that Theodore Dreiser should be a well known author because he’s writing is brilliant and the messages throughout his works should be taught to students because all people should be exposed to views that can impact their lives and their life’s decisions. The works Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy are certainly enduring works of literature that display a deep understanding of the American experience around the turn of the century, with its liberal desires and persistent disillusionments. Sadly, I was not introduced to Dreiser until my third year in college and I honestly believe that these two books could have been really powerful high school reads that would have opened my eyes to what the world actually is and would have made me knowledgeable to what people in the world actually have to live through.
