Remember what it was like to be a kid? Rushing to go to your friend’s house because he/she said they were better than you at a game. Only to finally settle it once and for all who was better. Inviting friends over and all play the same game to have a good time but still being very competitive so you get bragging rights for winning. All of those apply to sports as well. Video games have come a long way into modern times. Some have dedicated most of their time into video games later developing a well understanding in how a video game works. The truth of it is video games require skill, teamwork, and strategy, therefore, should be considered a sport.

CD“If educators accept the argument that COTS games have the potential to enhance physical play, then they should be willing to tap into this potential and experiment with new strategies for incorporating them into their gyms and classrooms” (Hayes). Educators have no idea what students are capable of and by trying new methods it is possible to see students true potential and how their brains work. “Competitive video gaming has brought fame and fortune to their players, some of whom have achieved immense celebrity, with soaring salaries and corporate endorsement deals” (Feuer). There have been many grand prize tournaments for many competitive games where 1st place gamer wins a cash prize making a living off of their skill. The cause begins from those that take games to a new level. The effect comes from all the hard work and dedication a player puts into their games leading players to success. “Like sports stars everywhere, professional-level video gamers need a place to practice” (Feuer). Where would the top athletes be without a gym, same applies to gamers who need a place to practice and training their mental ability. The brain is composed of many parts, but looking more specifically at the visual-spatial capacity helps you in everyday life.
