All parents tell their kids to set goals and work to achieve them. But they do not tell them that it will happen in a short amount of time. Similarly, Siddhartha has a goal of reaching enlightenment that he strives to achieve. It is important to push through these times and to keep going to have success. Siddhartha experiences this numerous times during his path to enlightenment. One time especially is when Siddhartha is questioning the Semanas because the eldest ¨is sixty years old and has not attained Nirvana¨, which makes him think he never will either(Hesse 18). Siddhartha was faced with a crossroad here, because the path he was on wasn't leading him towards enlightenment. It was important for Siddhartha to push through this doubt and leave the Semanas. Siddhartha could´ve just as easily stopped chasing his goal because he's seen no one else reach it. That´s what shows how vital it is to push through the signs of trouble, because it will lead to the goal. In a completely different generation, NFL legend Kurt Warner faced similar doubts to his goal. Warner was ¨cut as the Packers´ fourth-string quarterback¨ in 1994 temporarily ending his career(Moraitis 2). In a situation alike Siddhartha, he had doubts on his goal. The doubts did not impact him and he worked to get back to the NFL. 6 years later he was the MVP of the Super Bowl. Again it shows that how persevering through the difficult times is what leads to the achievement of goals. No success was ever endured without the struggle during the journey.
