By doing this, I think he allowed his work to be more relatable to his fellow peers. For example, in Collins St. 5pm, a painting that depicts the busy post rush hour commuters traveling along Collins Street in downtown Melbourne is a very simplistic piece of art at first glance. In the image, hundreds of white Australian men, dressed in the same standard suite attire, show little to no emotion on their faces, as they casually make their way to or from work on a typical 9 to 5 workday. As this image may seem to lack a certain demeanor to it, considering the value and praise it receives, the intentions Brack had for the piece when it was first produced were completely different from what he thought about it many years later. “Looking back on it now I am totally unsatisfied, because of the condescending attitude I adopted in relation to the people in the street, their lives were just as complex as mine, if not more” (McDonald, John. 2009).
Thomas Cole was originally born in Lancashire, England in 1801. In 1818 he and his parents moved to America. Cole’s father wanted him to be a lawyer. However, Cole self-thought himself in the art where he found his true passion on painting. Cole always found picturesque landscapes for which showed interest at an early age.

First off, he was a 8 time all star, 3 time world series,5 time golden glove, And a World Series MVP. The painting I chose was Scene on the Catskill Creek painted by Frederic Edwin Church in 1847. Church was born in Hartford, Connecticut to a wealthy family. Also a student of Thomas Cole. Church settled in Hudson, New York with his family, which is what inspired him to paint many of the landscape paintings. Church took wilderness itself as his subject.
The poet of Beginning and many others, James Wright, was born in 1927 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. In 1954, a year after his first child, James studied at the University of Washington (James).Unfortunately, James had a short life but, yet, got recognized to one of America’s finest contemporary poets (Brunner). Grievously, in 1979 he was diagnosed with tongue cancer, but could not pull throught. James died March 25, 1980. During his lifetime, he was successful with his poetry, my favorite being Beginning.
“Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ at Woodstock”: Individual Warfare As Greek philosopher Plato once said, “Only the dead have seen the end of the war.” In Sherman Alexie’s “Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play the ‘Star- Spangled Banner’ at Woodstock,” Victor’s father can align directly with this belief.
Presents accepted historical truths from a new perspective. The drowning man depicted symbolises that Anglo-Saxon people are drowning out the communities, and cultural differences of the African Americans and aboriginal people, ruining their unique identity. The group of indigenous Australians sitting around a camp fire and one larger figure on the right in the composition, portray Bennett’s feeling of not being accepted by either the Aboriginal people or the Anglo-Celtic. This painting directly links with the lost identity of Gordon Bennett and many others of the lost generation people with his confused cultural background. He raises questions through his artworks about both his own individual understanding of who he is and also the oppression and racism towards the Australian Aboriginal people particularly as recorded in
The dust across the mid ground of the painting contrasts against the blue and green hues of the top third of the painting. The detail of the drover on his horse in the foreground of the painting shows how Roberts can have intricate details whilst maintaining a soft and smooth stroke line. This interprets the theme of ‘The Bush’ by comparing it to Australia’s inner core landscape. The green from the trees is perched above and away from the earthy tones below. The perfectly blue sky shows a hope in the distance indicating the help the drover needs in this story.
There are many different ways to convey a message. Some people convey a message in a blatant fashion, while others are more subtle about it. These two contrasting styles are shown in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s two short stories: The Minister’s Black Veil and Egotism; or, The Bosom-Serpent. Mr. Hooper and Roderick Elliston view sin in a similar fashion, however their differences lie in the way they tell people, which reveals Hawthorne’s message that there are multiple ways to effectively educate someone.
Characteristics of Romanticist paintings include painterly brushstrokes, a clear display of emotion, nature, and diagonals. Some examples of this type of art includes Death of Sardanpalus by Eugène Delacroix where his practiced use of expressive brushstrokes is made visible. British Romanticism was more focused on using pure abstraction to help create expression. Examples include J.M. W. Turner 's Rain, Steam and Speed. This type of use of ochre and white streaks was common, along with pastoral elements.
In the 18th century, another one of the greatest artist of all time, Vincent Van Gogh illustrated a very personal painting. The Starry Night is now one of the most widely known paintings in the world, but the story and meaning is not. Both artist used dark and grim themes when it came to their creations, and that is what draws the public to them. In today 's society we are able to relate to the deeper and more mentally touching symbols of these pieces of art. Andrew Wyeth’s painting, Christina’s World shows a young woman in a empty field looking up at a grim farmhouse on a rustic summer day.
Henri Matisse drew some outstanding paintings. In the beginning of the 20th century was the modernism era. It included amazing and famous painters, sculptors, draughtsmen, and printmakers. In this era an amazing artist was born called Henri Matisse.
