Significant Events Of World War II

Throughout history, many significant events have led the United States to where it is today. There are a lot of events that have given the U.S. strength, but also events that have brought the U.S. down majorly. After everything that has happened leading up to today, there is one event in particular that stands out the most, World War II. Though it only lasted for a few years, the damage was irreversible not only for Europe, but also for the U.S.. World War II was the most significant era in history because of the technological advancements, military efforts, and women in the workforce.

Poland, however, was a smaller country to begin with so they were not able to build such a strong army. In the end, the German-Slovokian team ended up winning. This event caused Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany officially beginning World War II. The U.S. did not join the war until December 1941 when Japan planned an attack on Pearl Harbor. They essentially bombed the entirety of Pearl Harbor, a naval base in Hawaii, and the U.S. lost many lives and also many boats. This was when the U.S. declared war on Japan. After this event, Italy and Germany sided with Japan and all three of them declared war on the U.S. Italy, Germany, and Japan later made a deal called the Tripartite Pact which was essential to them so that they would be “promised mutual political, economic and military assistance” (Mitter 11). However, this did not stop the U.S. from trying to keep the peace between all of the countries. They would eventually go on to get China and many other countries to surrender which would finally end the war. Japan was not going to give up that easily though,

It has also led to technological and medical advances that benefit society today. The U.S. military played a vital role in the war, with more than 16 million men and women in uniform serving. The Army, Navy, and Air Force all expanded, creating new branches such as the Army Women’s Corps and the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. The U.S. also provided weapons, equipment, and other resources to allies such as Britain and the Soviet Union.
