The Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of Jews and other people which took place in Europe between 1933 and 1945. The book Night by Elie Wiesel, the movie “The boy in the striped pajamas” and the article “A Secret Life” are based on things that happened and how it affected the characters in all the three works. Silence encourages the tormenter because it empowers the tormenter to continue with justice activities yet also endanger innocent human’s life. In the book Night by Eliezer Wiesel, the silence of the people in the town, prisoners and god influenced the Nazi soldiers to be more powerful which lead to injustice and violence activities. When Bruno and his family had to leave their home and live near the concentration camp because his father worked for the Nazis, Bruno felt broken hearted since he had to leave his friends. When they arrived at their new home, Bruno kept questioning his parents about the “farm”, “farmers”, and if he could play with them. But, his parents never told him the real truth by telling him it’s not a farm. (Herman). The innocent eight year old Bruno never knew it was a concentration camp where they killed thousandths of people a day. Then, he feels depressed for a few days and starts going to the backyard and finds a window which lead to him in a different world than he lives in. Also, he made a new friend named Schmuel and started going there regularly to play with him. Because of, not telling Bruno that he now lives near a concentration camp, he never knew not to go there. Instead, he thinks it’s a farm and crawls inside with Schmuel at last and by wearing “pajamas”. As a result of this, Bruno and Schmuel, both get thrown into the gas chamber and get killed at the end. When Bruno’s grandfather comes to see the family, the family and the guard Kotler have dinner together. When the inmate, Pavel is serving wine for Kotler, he spills little on the table. Kotler becomes enraged and Pavel gets beaten seriously to death. (Herman). The fact that everyone stayed silent and took no action, it was unbelievable how cruel humans are to be able to watch someone get beaten to death. After the death of Pavel, they hired a new worker named Schmuel, Bruno’s Jew friend at the camp. When Schmuel was cleaning the glasses, Bruno sees him and gives him food to eat. Then, Kotler catches Schmuel chewing and started accusing him of stealing but, Schmuel said Bruno offered it to him.
