Benjamin Banneker was a huge self educated mathematician, astronomer, complier of almanacs and also a writer all at the same time. Benjamin Banneker was born on November 9, 1731, in Ellicott’s, Maryland. A free black man who owned his own property with a farm close to Baltimore, Banneker was very self educated in astronomy an mathematics. He was later called to help in the surveying of territory for the construction of the nations capital. Benjamin Banneker also became an active writer of almanacs and exchanged letters with Thomas Jefferson, politely challenging him to do to ensure racial equality.
Asa Philip Randolph was born April 15, 1889 in Crescent City, Florida. To James and Elizabeth Randolph, the father who was a Methodist minister. According to Biography.com, both were supporters of the equal rights for the African american population in the U.S (Biography.com Editors, "A. Philip Randolph"). In his later years he would attend Cookman institute, which was one of the only schools to offer higher education of the African American population. After that he would start the Brotherhood of Labor with his business partner Chandler Owen.
Jacob Varner, also known as Jake Varner was born March 24, 1986. He is the son of Steve and Renee Varner, no to mention he is an Olympic Gold Medalist. In college he wrestled for the Iowa State Cyclones and majored in criminal justice. He was one of America’s greatest wrestlers, because his high school and college career prepared him for internationals, he worked hard to achieve goals he set for himself, and he set a path for other wrestlers to follow who aspire to be as great as him. High School and college wrestling both prepared Varner for his future career.

To begin, I will talk about some of the major impacts that Richard Murphy had on the lives of others. Richard Murphy “founded the Rheedlen Center for Children and Families, now known as the Harlem Children’s Zone, which serves 12,000 youth and their families each year and is being replicated across the country as Promise Neighborhoods.” (huffingtonpost.com) He created the Beacon Schools in New York. This program turned school buildings into community centers after school hours.
The concert was held at Jazz at the Bistro. It was a tribute to the great trumpet player and St. Louis native Clark Terry. The concert was performed by contemporary trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling and the Jazz St. Louis Big Band. Clark Terry was a well-known and highly respected trumpeter and flugelhorn player who has had a tremendous influence on jazz and jazz culture in the music’s rich history. Early Life Gaskins childhood was characterized by a great deal of neglect. His mother provided instability, neglect and didn’t care for him. When Gaskins was one year old, he drank a bottle of kerosene, which caused him to have convulsions until he was three years old. He also suffered from night terrors. Gaskins also received regular beatings from his mom's boyfriends when he was little.
Oscar Peterson was born to immigrant parents descended from the West Indies on the day of August 15, 1925 (“Oscar Peterson Facts”). Oscar Peterson grew up in a poor multi-ethnic neighbourhood in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (“Oscar Peterson: Piano Master”). His neighborhood was mostly a black neighborhood. He found himself surrounded by the jazz culture which started to develop in the early 20th century (“Peterson,Oscar And Friends”). Oscar's father, Daniel Peterson (who worked as a Pacific Railroad porter and also was an amateur trumpeter and pianist), was one of Oscar’s music teacher as a young boy along with his sister, Daisy, who taught him classical piano (“Peterson,Oscar And Friends”).
My best friends are two of the funniest people I know one of my friends is Drake Steinbrock I known Drake Steinbrock ever since I came to Clifton-Clyde he’s always been a really funny person whenever you're mad he will make you laugh he has always been one of my best friends. As we grew up I always known drake as a really athletic person ever since Drake and I started to play football way back in Youth NCK football, but when middle school football it was way more competitive which is how Drake was he was always one of the fastest kids in the whole school. Which leads me to how athletic he was in track Drake and I did the hurdles and he was always pushing himself to do better which kinda caught onto me he’s also the reason why I do good in
The Path to Freedom The Civil War movement took place in the 1800, which is the period that Mark Twain lived in and witnessed the massive racism, torture, and persecution toward African Americans. Mark Twain uses the word “nigger” more than one time in his writing. He did not mean to insult or criticize African Americans, but using the word nigger at that time was considered a natural word that people use.
Between 2010 and 2050, the United States population ages 65 and older will nearly double, the population ages 80 and older will nearly triple, and the number of nonagenarians and centenarians—people in their 90s and 100s—will quadruple. (KFF, 2015) Trustees of Medicaid are forecasting that in 2024, Medicaid will start running out of funding. Although there is little evidence in the trustee’s projections it is still something that needs to be looked as more and more people are getting older and are needing benefits vs a number of people putting in. Every day there are 10,000 people turning 65 or older.
