“Don’t be ashamed to weep; ‘tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruits cannot grow without water, but there must be sunlight also. This quote is saying, it's okay to cry once in awhile to grieve and heal but there will be days where you have to stop grieving and enjoy life again. When you start living again the love of your lost ones will comfort you and only remind you of the good memories. When Tea Cake and Janie moved out from Eatonville to live together and work at the muck to pick beans they believed everything will be okay. Until the Native Americans noticed the strange weather and started to leave the muck. But Tea Cake didn't want to lose their pay so they stayed and kept working. People started to leave the muck also, all kinds of animals, rabbits and snakes started to leave too. It started to get windy and the house was flooding so they had to swim away. Janie was tired, Tea Cake told her to swim to a roof of the house but their was a mad dog. Janie couldn't go on top of the roof, Tea Cake cut the dog to save Janie but the dog had a chance to bit him on the arm. They arrived to a safe place and lived in a decent house, Tea Cake was forced to bury people who didn't make it through the storm. That's when Janie's world was turned upside down, Tea Cake was getting sick so Janie got a doctor. The doctor told Janie in private that Tea Cake has rabies and it was too late. Janie started to panick and told him there has to be any other way that she has enough money for medicine. But there wasn't and Janie knew it but didn't want to believe it.
