The reason the oil prices spiked briefly during Hurricane Irene is because the supply of oil nationwide was going to reduce because of the closure of some oil refineries that were along the path of the hurricane. The closed refineries at that time had a production capacity of approximately a million barrels per day. This meant that the market supply of oil reduced significantly, causing the oil prices to soar because of a shortage in oil supply. After the refineries were opened, when Hurricane Irene had passed, the supply steadily went back to the normal market supply, this resulted in the gradual price reduce of oil. There are other products that experienced an increase in prices as the oil prices increased.
In Smith’s theory, he focused on the individual, but Marx preferred to pay much more attention on a specific social class. Marx says, “The distinguishing feature of Communism is no the abolition of property generally, but the abolition of bourgeois property (Marx, 1848).” For example, proletariat needed to build a new social class through revolution, and abolition of private property needed to be established in society. Marx had also offered other policies that helped to get rid of the different class distinctions between bourgeois and proletariat and distribute the wealth equally such as “abolition of all right of inheritance, exclusion of monopoly, equal liability of all to labor, and a more equable distribution of the population over the country (Marx, 1848).” These policies not only prohibited one to hold certain power and rights to rule others, but they also promoted the equal distribution of wealth in

Eugenics will cause the clash of classes through dominant physical traits along with the increase of racism. The only eugenics that should be further studied into is the prevention of disease because it does not dehumanize the fetus, but rather helps the longevity of one’s life. It should not surpass the goodness of
The poem “Richard Cory” by Edwin Arlington Robinson is a poem about a rich man that is the talk of the town but for some reason takes his life. The speakers of this poem comes from the standpoint of the middle class people of the city that look up to Cory and idol him. This plays a major role in how irony in the poem plays a major role by teaching a lesson to the reader that you cannot judge a book by its cover. The first stanza of the poem introduces Richard Cory as a gentleman and a king “He was a gentleman from sole to crown,” (Robinson 3). This tells the reader that Cory is someone that is upped upon by his community.
Hitler, Nazi’s and Eugenics The Nazi’s were strongly influenced by Eugenics movements, believing that Germany and the world could be improved by eliminating the so-called inferiors, as they believed this would increase productivity as well as reduce crime. While Hitler’s beliefs on Eugenics were based on policies to try and improve the Aryan race. The Aryan race was the German’s “Master Race,” Aryans were supposed to be Nordic in appearance and were meant to be directly ancestral to Germans.
Eugenics is the improvement of the human population by controlled breeding. With that definition many things can be put under the category of Eugenics. Social Darwinism though, is the opposite of Eugenics. It is a theory that human population is based off of survival of the fittest and natural selection. Nazism is something that can be categorized under Eugenics because the beliefs of Germany during that time period was that the Aryan race was the best and therefore he selected those he believed to be of pure German descent and allowed them to breed and either killed those that he did not want to have children or placed them into concentration camps.

Communism may have its benefit but it also has its disadvantages. Some of the benefits it has are that there is no class no one is rich and no one is poor they are fully equal to
In the next few pages I will cover some questions that were raised in regards to eugenics. I will describe what eugenics is, what policies were generated to create the ideal population, and also the differences between birth control and population factoring in the perspective of eugenics. We will ask about the similarities between the Nazi and the U. S eugenic policies, since eugenic was first started within the United States from early 1900 until World War II and was then implemented and passed on in Germany by Adolf Hitler. Eugenics is a law created to control sex and population to ensure the best quality of a specific population, it is viewed as a public good by focusing on a certain group of people (Solinger, 1947: page 7). Also, eugenics is the use of scientific languages to push an ideology and population control policies.
Christiana Barder Professor Wolfe HIST 208 11 August 2023 Downfall of the German “Monarchy” In this essay, I intend to show that eugenics served as the core philosophy behind the nationalist movement of Nazi Germany, which required an office of absolute political power to fulfill its political goals. The absolute monarchy that emerged in Nazi Germany was filled by Adolf Hitler, which he used to implement his racial purification, fueled by his nationalist ideology after the study of eugenics became widespread in Europe. In other words, the Nazi Party adopted the doctrines of eugenics through an extreme sentiment of nationalism to support their purposes of racially purifying the German people. Eugenics is a scientific theory based on improving
So ideas of communism include equality for all the citizens in a society so that the struggle of classes would end. To end the gap between rich and poor there would be no inheritances and no child labor. The end goal of communism was to prevent one class from rising above the other and have economic equality. One country who uses communism is Cuba. In Cuba the economy and labor force is greatly controlled by the government and the only political party allowed is the “Partido Comunisto de Cuba”(Cuban Communist Party).Although, Communism is supposed to help the economy many people live in poverty and are restricted to many privileges we have in the United

Marx saw capital and liberal democracies as the fundamental reasons for the low standards of living and the low social conditions of workers. Karl Marx in particular is especially concerned with the political assumptions behind these two ideologies. According to him, these two types of government should be replaced by communism, since communism would provide a more equal and socially just society. Although this statement may seem unusual, since we tend to associate communism with Stalin and China, the type of communism implemented in these countries is different from the communism that Marx and Engels envisaged in their Communist Manifesto. Marx and Engels’ vision of communism is based on the principle of equality among the people and freedom
Social class contains a lot of significance in social sciences because it sets the basis for social stratification in which people are grouped into a set of hierarchical social categories. These categories further lead up to class conflicts and social problems which we see in society today. Since the main aim of social sciences is to explain the cause and effect of any social issue, sociologists tend to first explain the definition of class and their interpretation of the term followed by its effects in a society. Among these sociologists there were two very influential personalities who developed their work to explain the definition and the formation of the social class. Karl Marx, being an economist, believes that these social classes are a direct result of economic factors.
