Michael Lind's article "Quit Comparing Trump to Hitler" has, unsurprisingly going by the title, defended Trump against the excessive attempts in connecting the Republican candidate with the infamous German dictator. Unfortunately, most of Lind's defenses are as weak and narrow minded as the Republican he defends. Throughout the article, Lind continuously brings up other people also victims to Hitler comparisons. Lind uses obscure names and events to further support his argument.
Hitler states that the only way for Germans to “be liberated from the danger of...being enslaved in service to others” is to “rally the German people
Hitler became the new chancellor of Germany while Roosevelt became president of the United States. They both had charisma and a powerful aura. However years to come would show that they used their power very differently. Hitler killed many people including 6 million Jews. While Franklin D. Roosevelt became the only
It’s time to elevate this debate from divisive name-calling, from soundbites without solutions, and start discussing how can we make this country better for all of us with real conservative values put into place.” Perry closed his speech with another jab at Trump but this time taking his slogan of ‘Make America Great Again.’ “Let’s make America good again so it can be great again,” Perry said closing his remarks where he received a standing ovation from the
Great again’ implies that America was once great but no longer is. And as far as who said it is concerned; of course, as United States is holding its presidential election on Tuesday 8 Nov 2016 and presidential candidates are holding campaigns. As the campaign seeks to influence the decision making process, it may have been said during during their campaign by the candidates. In the meantime, this document will seek to find out if it has gone horribly wrong?
Slavery and the Holocaust has a lot of similarities. Some similarities are people were mistreated because of their race/religion. Both slavery and the Holocaust were tortured or beaten in some kind of way. Some lives were even taken. I think that Slavery would be worse fate because it lasted a very long time.
There are two people in the history of us that has certain similarities, one of them is Donald trump and the other one is Ronald Reagan. To start with their experiences, Donald trump never had a political involvement similarly to Ronald Reagan. However, Reagan was elected as governor of California but he never held political office. Subsequently, their professional life was like each other. Trump was a showrunner and Reagan was a b-movie actor and because of this reason people and media dismissed them as a crucial candidate.
The slogan never specified which era in time it was referring to bringing the country back to “again” (Goldhill). This makes it so that everyone can visualize their own ideal America in their heads instead of speaking of this specific time, which keeps everyone thinking of their ideal paradise for everyone to aspire while still unifying people for a “better future”. The two combined leave people less skeptical of Trump and make them believe the he is that bridge between the past and the
When I reflect back on what we have learned this last half of the semester, one of the main questions that comes to mind is, “How could so many people follow someone like Hitler?” We often wonder how it is that a person can become persuaded to follow a man or woman who does nothing but evil destructive things to other human beings. Those who are able to get followers come across as powerful leaders, those who have the know-how when it comes to speaking to the public. They tend to be strong speakers who know what words to use to draw people in. In some cases, the person doesn’t have to be a strong speaker but a person of “importance” in the public’s eye, such as doctors, lawyers, politicians, teachers, etc.
Two Leaders Of the 1930’s and the 1940’s. Adolf Hitler, leader of Germany, started his term in 1934 and ended in 1945. Franklin Roosevelt, President of the United States, started his term in 1933 and ended in 1945. These were two leaders that countries during the 1930’s and 1940’s, but had some differences. Huge, major events occurred during these decades and the countries needed strong leaders to get them through it.

Names such as Maximilien Robespierre, Vlad the Impaler, and Ivan the Terrible are a few names written in the darker pages of history, but there is one name which matches, if not exceeds, the terror created by these three men: Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler, known leader of the Nazi party in German during World War II, is known for many atrocities against humanity, one of which is the Holocaust. Though some
Donald Trump said, “We need a leader that can bring back our jobs, can bring back our manufacturing, can bring back our military, can take care of our vets. We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again” (Borger, 2015). Trump is delivering this message promising that if you vote for him as president, he will back up what he
In my paper, I will analyse Donald Trump’s political activities before and after the election to get an objective viewpoint of America’s President. We’ll start off with the history of Trump, both personal and political, to see whether there was some sort of significant development over the years indicating a tendency towards ‘good or evil’. Next, we will take a look at what Donald Trump promised to do – the wall, lowering taxes and repealing Obamacare to name a few – and evaluate if he managed to keep his election pledges. This success rate is a major factor in definitively assessing Trump’s influence on America.
The world has known many dictators but Adolf Hitler will be the one to stand out of all of them because he was responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews he was influenced through his early life, beliefs, and positions. He was always a person who was known to be a person to be a leader but everyone would judge him on his decisions. He was a person who everyone knew to dictate and demand things that he felt was in the best interest of his public response. Dictator Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, on April 20, 1889, and was the fourth of six children born to Alois Hitler and Klara Polzl. As a child, Hitler clashed frequently with his emotionally harsh father, who also didn't approve of his son's later interest in fine art as a career.
