In the play “The Crucible” from Arthur Miller are Elisabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams two of the main characters. They are very different, how they handle thinks, for example in love and witchcraft. But the question is, how different are they?
Abigail Williams is a seventeen year old girl witch parents are death. She is living with her uncle and his child Betty. Betty and Abigail are friends. One night all girls go in the woods to have a ritual, but Abigail is drinking blood and cased a spell to Elisabeth. She wants that Elisabeth Proctor, the wife of John Proctor, died, because she has an affair with John. In “The Crucible” Abigail is one of the main characters, because she is dealing with witchcraft. She is lying a lot, for example, she says “Elizabeth Proctor is an envious, gossipy liar!”. She says things about other people, witch are lies, to distract from herself. She is lying about the meeting in the woods, witchcraft and about his love for John Proctor. On account of Abigail other people died in the play, because she shifts the focus away from herself by accusing others of witchcraft. In the end she steals money for saving John from the death.

Both are in love for John, but Elisabeth is the woman from John and Abigail is only an affair. Elisabeth is a strong woman without feelings and a broken heart, but Abigail is a child and want to do anything for John Proctor. Abigail and Elisabeth are “fighting” for John, but Abigail is doing it in a bad way and Elisabeth is showing emotions. Abigail’s bad way is, that she steals money for saving John from the death and she is mean to Elisabeth. The emotional way from Elisabeth is more in the end when John is on the way to hang, she says that he must do what he think is right and that she agree
