The meaning of life is to create it for yourself, life shouldn't have to be a cycle that is repeated, you should be able to choose your path. In the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, life is shown to be slow and boring. With society being controlled by the government. When introducing the world in the story, there is a part that describes the lives people live, “and everybody was finally equal”. They weren’t equal before God and the law. Having no differences, playing into the statement that life was not supposed to be led in a circle. With that, there is the book Fahrenheit 452, written by Ray Bradbury. Within the book lies the story of one Guy Montag and the changes in his life, but within the change is the realization of how to live. While Guy Montag is on his way home, he is confronted with a girl that embeds a deep question that reveals more of his life than he has thought of in years, “He felt his smile slide away, melt, fold over and down on itself like a tallow skin—He was not happy. There are the choices of one's own doing that are important. With life, there come decisions, most opportunities in life pass and there are new ones to experience. Yet, in life, you should go for things and not allow them to pass by, to never be thought of again. Something that can show how to take chances at opportunities is the 2013 film The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, which was inspired by James Thurber’s short story The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. Based on the film, the main character, Walter Mitty, has a life made up of dreams and wishes to do spectacular things. However, he never takes his chances on these things, but taking a chance once in a while can change your whole perspective on life. The best scene to show the change in Mitty’s perspective is when he takes a risk by jumping onto a helicopter (The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty 8:18-9:30 Part 2). The clip depicts the rush Mitty has and the risk he takes by jumping onto the helicopter. But the major thing is the background music to go with it, Space Oddity. With the song it amplifies the change Mitty makes and the perspective change on the world and how life should be lived, going into the fact that you should take those chances in life. There is also another story that can promote this topic, and that is Jia Jiang’s 100 Days of Rejection Challenge. Through this whole experience, he was able to understand how to navigate through life and learn from it. The best example of Jia
