In the film “The Curse of Frankenstein”Victor Frankenstein was different from the character in Shelley’s novel. He was not as bad as the he was in the film. He did not focus on killing people to achieve his goal. The only close similarity to the original story is the monster with ugly and horrible appearance. Frankenstein the monster awakes from the moment was found to be very aggressive and evil.

In Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, The creature may be known for his monstrous and unforgiveable acts, but it is his creator, Victor, who is the true monster. Mary Shelley was an English novelist, best known for her gothic novel “Frankenstein”. In “Frankenstein” the question of who is the true monster, Victor or the creature, is a prominent theme throughout the story. While the creature's actions are certainly gruesome and horrific, it is the Monster who ultimately holds the title of the true monster. Through his neglect and mistreatment of the creature, Victor demonstrates a complete disregard for the life he has created.
Two separate stories can have more similarities than one may initially believe. For example, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Nightmare Before Christmas share similar literary elements. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a story that follows a skeleton named Jack (commonly known as the “Pumpkin King) who gets tired of the same-old routine he follows every Halloween. When he discovers Christmas town, he kidnaps Santa and takes over the holiday for himself. Little does Jack know how much trouble this will bring him and the citizens of Halloween town.

When exploring the dichotomy of the Creature versus Victor Frankenstein, one of the biggest and most widely debated questions remains whether Victor should be blamed for the Creature’s destructive actions or if the Creature should be considered guilty for his actions based off of his own free will. Many consider Victor Frankenstein the villain of the story due to his repetitive decisions to abandon and avoid his own “mistake,” the irresponsible choice of creating the monster in the first place, and his obvious negligence of the Creature’s feelings.
Monsters are portrayed as evil villains who have no empathy for others and often care more about themselves; they are characterized from their traits and actions. The reason for this is a monster who has been surrounded by nothing but pure evil, will be influenced to become evil. This concept is demonstrated in the 1984 novels, written by George Orwell; and Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley. Both novels include characters that were mislead and shown false hope, thus displaying evil in both characters.

The Monster, having been created unethically and haphazardly, is at odds throughout the novel, resulting in his alienation from society and prolonged feelings of anger, desertion, and loneliness. Frankenstein and his monster begin with opposite lives: Frankenstein has everything and the monster has nothing. Similarly the monster is determined to understand the society around him. But once he does, he understands that he will never be able to find companionship, which leads him to pain and anger.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a gothic novel that tells the story of scientist, Victor Frankenstein, and his obsession with creating human life. This leads him to creating a gruesome monster made of body-parts stolen from grave yards, whom upon discovering his hideousness, the monster seeks revenge against his creator, causing Victor to regret the creation of his monster for the rest of his life. Shelley uses the literary elements of personification, imagery, and similes to give a vivid sense and visualization of Victor Frankenstein’s thoughts and feelings as well as to allow us to delve deeper into the monster’s actions and emotions. Throughout the novel, Shelley uses personification of various forces and objects to reflect the effect in Victor’s actions.
What does director Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994), directed by Kenneth Branagh, have in common— a mutual underlying story; but their differences are what makes their tales all the more special. Edward Scissorhands is a retelling of Frankenstein, but with a slight twist. In Edward’s case instead of lacking companionship like Frankenstein’s monster, he lacks hands; and is received rather well by the surrounding community. Ironically, in both tales the characters share the same desire to be love; this ignites the question – why do humans want to be love? Are we only important as we are loved?
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein depicts the remarkable resemblance to the “modern” myth of Prometheus. The intertextuality used to connect these two stories, allow Shelley to bring out the most prominent themes of Power and suffering. As both of the characters deal differently with the struggle to resist the power that comes with creating life, the inevitable end for both characters are the same; they fall at the hands of their own creations. Shelley carefully utilizes the legend of Prometheus to express the connection between punishment and creation.
