It is the rough actions of Harriet Tubman, William Still, and Thomas Garrett that can understand the sacrifices one makes in order to be free. Harriet Tubman led hundreds of slaves to Canada and was one of the bravest human beings ever. William Still was a black man who worked with the Underground Railroad and was secretary. Thomas Garrett was another brave man who had a station at the Underground railroad. These three brave people made sacrifices to lead the slaves to freedom. Harriet Tubman was a very determined strong and brave person who saved over hundreds of slaves. She used the Underground Railroad to get the slaves to Canada. Doing so, Harriett Tubman took many risks. “She had never been in Canada, but she kept painting wondrous word of the pictures of what it would be like.” Even though she didn’t know what the journeys would bring, she was still willing to sacrifice her life to take the slaves to Canada. “She lifted the gun, aimed it at the despairing slave. She said, “Go on with us or die,” Harriet Tubman was willing to make an example out of one her slaves to show their is no turning back.
