Hawaii and California have some similarities even though California is about 153,000 square miles larger. Both states are popular tourist destinations that border the Pacific Ocean. There are many exciting and beautiful sights to see. Although they both border the Pacific Ocean there are many differences which would make a trip to either place a unique adventure. California and Hawaii are two of the most frequently visited states within the United States. A vacation to either state would be a great family experience.
Hawaii is made up of 132 islands and is the third smallest state. Hawaii grows about 42 acres a year. It is the only state that was made from volcanic eruptions. Hawaii’s climate is subtropical because “it rarely has extremes of heat or cold” (Kent, 16). The average temperature of Hawaii in the summer is 85 degrees. During the winter the average temperature is 78 degrees. No matter which season you visit Hawaii in you will have great weather. The temperature in Hawaii rarely goes below 60 degrees. However,from January to March there is enough snow on Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s tallest mountain, to go skiing while you are there. …show more content…

There are many popular tourist destinations in Hawaii like Waikiki Beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There are many fun things at to do at Waikiki Beach including swimming in the ocean, surfing or building a sandcastle. When you have had enough of the ocean you can visit Pearl Harbor, where America first got involved in World War II. Pearl Harbor is the site of one of the most devastating attacks on the United States that ever happened. While visiting Hawaii a traditional Luau is a one of a kind
