ISIS and Spain: Are they Similar? Events have occurred recently, so much so that we question when it will stop. The recent events of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, has threatened many of the national governments, more importantly the United States. The countries around this “state”, such as Libya, Egypt, Syria, and Iraq. These countries are cowering in fear over the massive catastrophes caused by the islamic terrorist group. But we must ask this question… “Is this the 1st time America has been involved in these types of attacks? President Obama’s declaration of war against ISIS is similar the the events of the Spanish-American War of 1898.
Chiefly, the ISIS threats against the Middle-East is indistinguishable to the threats made to Cuba by Spain on April 25, 1898. The Middle-Eastern countries are threatened by the ISIS military and weaponry forces. The war against ISIS might not have the best outcome due to the increasing threat of the leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as well as the 13,000 soldiers in the terrorist group have much more elaborate tactics than Spain had. Yet, the American forces; military and weapons, has advanced over the span of nearly 120 years. Throughout the American existence, the transition from swords to muskets to countless models of assault weapons has made us [U.S.] virtually unstoppable.
