Both Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther Jr. are the world leaders who fought against apartheid but in different continents (H). Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, United States of America, while Nelson Mandela was born on 18 July, 1918 in Madiba, South Africa (Nelson Mandela.org). Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. believed in democracy and fought for the right of their citizens. Mandela fought for the right to vote which was removed by the South African government, while Martin Luther king Jr. fought for civil rights of the American Blacks. (Elkym). His Father, Nnkosi Mphakanyiswa gadla died when he was twelve. From his childhood, he had dreamt of making his own contribution in the freedom struggle. In Qunu, he attended his school and completed his B.A. degree in University of South Africa and graduation at Fort Hare in 1943. Finally, he received his LLB degree in 1989 from University of South Africa. He joined in politics in 1942 and in 1944 he joined the African National Congress. In December, 1955 he was arrested. (Nelson.org) He became the National Volunteer-in-Chief for a Defiance Campaign and visited several countries in Africa and United Kingdom to get their support for army. He was charged for illegal exit from the country and was sentenced to imprisonment. In 1994, he became the first president to be elected in a democratic way.
