McFarland USA and Taking Sides McFarland USA and Taking Sides have many differences but they have one very important similarity. First, they are sort of opposites Taking Sides is about a Hispanic boy moving to a mostly white neighborhood. McFarland USA is about a white man moving to a mostly Hispanic neighborhood. The next difference is that McFarland USA is about cross-country. Taking sides is about basketball.
There are differences and a few similarities between taking sides and McFarland USA. A different is McFarland hade a country team and taking sides has a basketball team. Another different is they take place in two different schools. The school in taking sides is clumbers and the school name in McFarland USA is McFarland. The same thing in both is that they both are in the same state that is California.

For example, there are antagonists in both of the stories. But there are many more similarities than that. Similarities In the story “Three Billy Goats Gruff” there are two different countries telling the story. One is Norway, and the other country is Poland/Germany.
Both of these books are similar in ways because the main characters and their families both moved to America from middle eastern countries for better opportunities from the hard rush life back in their home country. Amir, who is from Afghanistan moved out with his father Baba because of the Soviet invasion. Baba couldn't stomach the idea of his country being ruined physically and ideologially by the Communists; so he leaves before it is too late. As a capitalistic businessman, his life and Amir's would have been in danger.

In "Borders" by Thomas King, there are multiple levels of storytelling as the narrator tells both a primary and secondary story simultaneously, and in doing this, the narrator is able to use the secondary story to establish themes and a background for the primary story in a way that makes the story flow in an interesting and engaging way. King's choice of narrator also impacts the way a story based on serious cultural disputes can be told in a light an unbiased way, through the eyes of a young boy. These choices contribute to an interesting flow of reading and an intriguing unbiased report of politically charged events. The authors choice of narrator can influence the flow of the story and what message is expressed, which makes the young, clueless, innocent boy an interesting conduit to tell a story based on cultural and racial divides.
Although, they have similarity, the two stories has major differences also. First, both author differs the way they introduce and develop their lead characters to the reader. Second, they also differ in perspective from which their stories are being told. Third, they differs on the choice of settings and how it impact to the stories.
