Percy Jackson and Odysseus are both amazing characters who went through great adventures, but which one is the real hero? A hero isn’t just about being kind or saving the world, but rather giving 110% and risking everything for others. A hero needs to use their strengths and talents to be courageous through hardships and struggles they may face. Odysseus was smart, brave, and strong, but he used those qualities selfishly. While they both made mistakes, Percy was trying his best to help others throughout his journey and was a very selfless hero. Percy Jackson proved he was more of a hero than Odysseus because he was loyal to others, independent, and very intelligent. Percy Jackson cared about his friends and was loyal to others, but Odysseus only cared about returning home to his wife, Penelope. When Grover was kidnapped, Percy decided to risk his own life by going to the Cyclops to save Grover. He was selfless and didn’t care about what consequences he might face, as long as his friend was safe. Odysseus knew some of his crew would die when they had to sail past Scylla, but he took that risk.
