Society is made up living individuals, who have the capability to reason for themselves, and this is the genesis of changes within the society. Development in any field is caused by a change from the normal way of doing things. Therefore, social change can be described as a transformation in a society way of conducting themselves. These changes have various impacts economically, socially and politically. In this paper comparison and contrast in social changes depicted in Purple Hibiscus and funny boy will be discussed. A theme of human rights and human development are revealed in both novels.
