Young love throughout the generations and decades have been very common. The thought of love being experienced by seemingly inexperienced people is not outrageous. Compared to now, young love was and is the same as years ago. This is easily shown in Romeo and Juliet. Similarities appear in situations like how quickly teens fall in love. The parents’ impact of who chooses who. How much money and looks affect the teen’s relationships. Plus the importance of sex in those relationships.

Many teens nowadays fall for someone who is deemed hot by their standards, or even just gives the teen a lot of gifts. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo often shows how this is accurate. When he is sulking about Rosaline he says, “She will not stay the siege of loving terms, Nor bide th' encounter of assailing eyes, Nor ope her lap to saint-seducing gold.” (I.i: 210-212) Here Romeo is saying how Rosaline is full of beauty but will not love him, even when he offers gifts. This shows that it was common then to offer gifts to woo a lady and is just the same now. Romeo also gives an insight on the effect of beauty when it comes to love. When he first sees Juliet, Romeo describes her beauty and is fixated on it. He says, “Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night, Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear, Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows, As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.” (I.v: 43-48) In that scene, Romeo was comparing her beauty as something that stands out amongst the crowd.
