What is the true meaning of destiny? Many people have different opinion on what destiny actually means. Two sensational authors both have their own opinions on the meaning this word that are surprisingly similar to one another. These two remarkable authors are William Shakespeare, author of Romeo and Juliet, and John Green, author of The Fault in our Stars. Romeo and Juliet is a love story of two star-crossed lovers that are from enemy families. The two end up meeting at a party and falling in love just at the sight of each other. They end up dying for each other because their destinies were to die. The Fault in our Stars is about two other star-crossed lovers that both have cancer and fall for each other immediately. In the end, the boy dies of cancer. Both of these fantastic stories are about how destiny has jurisdiction over who falls in love with whom. No one can control their destiny. …show more content…

No one can control their destiny and that’s why it’s such an important part in most stories. Shakespeare’s opinion on destiny is similar to Green’s opinion on destiny. Shakespeare thought that destiny was “written in the stars,” as Shakespeare states in a famous line in Julius Caesar. In Romeo and Juliet, their destiny was to die for each other. “With this night’s revels, and expire the term of a despised life clos’d in my breast by some vile forfeit of untimely death.” Romeo expresses in the play. This line means that Romeo had a dream about his destiny leading him to death after the party.
