As you see societies that are based on the same idea are always share differences and similarities between all of them. How the people of these societies deal with their situations and what they do during the day shows the differences in them. In Anthem, you see a society that the government has total control over and the people have no control over anything that happens and they are on a set schedule and they are just seen as workers and nobody is different. While in Divergent people are allowed to choose their future and they have some say in life and they aren’t just seen as workers they actually have a meaning where they come from. In Anthem, the women are treated like peasants in their society (Rand 38). During the time when Equality 7-2521 first saw Liberty 5-3000 we began to learn a little more about their lives. We could see that they called women peasants and even named their group. At the Home of the peasants, they are sent to the field to work everyday and nobody was allowed to talk to others outside of their group. If they got caught doing so they were in trouble and sent to the Palace of Corrective Detention. It is also against the law to be alone, write, or even have thoughts that everyone doesn’t agree on (Rand 17). Due to their government wanting everyone to be the same, nobody is allowed to speak or think on their own. They are all working together and thinking as one. They also pair couples up one time a year at the Palace of Mating and they will pair them up so they will have a child in the middle and that will make fit into their society. In Divergent, they are free to choose their future and pick their faction they want to join (Divergent). It’s very different from Anthem because they were given a job and had to stick to it no matter what. They are also allowed to have their own ideas and can speak to anyone.
