There have been many different events that have made a different and made changes to create the world we live in today. But do people know how they have changed the world. How are they unique or relevant to today? The French and American revolutions had many causes to the forming of the revolutions to which led to major events and historical changes. This revolution began around the time to which the British and French colonized in America. Around this time,” George III became king of Great Britain,” and had a very prosperous population in North America. In 1651 there was a trade law passed known as the Navigation Act which, “prevented colonists from selling their most valuable products to any country except Britain.” This plus the colonist having to, “pay high taxes on imported French and Dutch goods,” caused an uproar in the colonies for the Americans. A battle begins, with a war starting between the English and French. The fight started around 1754 and ended around 1763. The British took a victory, but at a cost. This lead to a new law known as the Stamp Act, which would help the British pay for the cost of the war. According to the Modern World History book,”...colonist had to pay a tax to have a stamp put on wills, deeds and newspapers…”(207). This act lead to another uproar within the colonies, which caused more war. The were many protest and fights against this new act and a battle between the American and British began. Both revolutions had some type of change within their laws and ideas for society and the economy. The enlightenment changed the ideas of many things during the times of both revolutions.
